Outreach & community


I am involved in science outreach in several different ways. This includes:
  • ​Contributing to science workshops and speaking at webinars.
    ​Examples:
    • ​Three-time panelist at the Skills Gap AI in Astrophysics webinar (2021, 2022). 
    • Panelist at the Girls In STEM Organization Aerospace webinar (Jan. 2022).
    • Speaker at the European Student Think Tank's Let's Talk Space webinar (Feb. 2022).
    • Speaker at a webinar "My path in space sciences" organized by a non-profit organization run by high school and college students, the Space Tourist. (Sept. 2023).
  • Public speaking at both in-person and online events. 
    • Speaker at the festival for astronomy hobbyists in Estonia, Astronoomiafestival. (Aug. 2023).
  • Writer for popular science articles and guest blog posts.
    You can read "Using a star-mapping telescope to measure tiny space rocks", 2021, in the Space Travel blog by University of Tartu. 
  • Author of the newsletter Kosmosest.

Community

During my PhD, I have contributed to the student and science community at ESO by organizing events and chairing the Student Representatives committee. Here are some of my activities:
​- Student Representative (Starting 30 Oct. 2023). A role involving teamwork in a group of 5 members representing the student body. The role also involves leading initiatives related to the interests and concerns of early-career researchers, organizing events, building connections between researchers of various career levels and faculty.
- Co-organizer of the seminar series Student Organized Session (SOS)
- Co-organizer of the Science Day 2023 for the Office of Science (July 2023)
- Initiative and organization of the Christmas Fundraiser at ESO Garching (Dec. 2022)
- Contribution to the Disks and Planets across ESO Facilities Conference as the Local Organizing Committee (Oct. 2022)

Social media, newsletter

My social media presence involves sharing informative content and resources, showing bits of my astrophysics journey, and answering questions to those interested in STEM (Science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
